One of my favorite things about music videos in the 90's was claymation. Claymation was King! Nowadays videos are all CGI and special effects, but when spot-motion was big it seemed to be the coolest creative outlet! So, I would like to share some of my favorite stop-motion claymated videos.
Primus ~ Southbound Pachyderm
Not only is this video cute as hell it just goes so well with this great song and is so fun to watch! I love me some Primus! Oh back in 1995... this was the shit!
Tool ~ Sober
Directed by
Fred Stuhr, this video is one of my favorites of all time, but I decided to put it under the claymation category and give the spot to someone else. Tool is known for their "dark" videos but this video was their first shot at stop-motion animation and is so skillfully done. The character model was designed by
Adam Jones (the guitarist for Tool) and is always creeping in my head when I listen to this song.
Green Jello (Jelly) ~ 3 Little Pigs
I'm going to show my youth right now, but I remember watching this video when I was a little girl. It's coincidentally directed
by Fred Stuhr who also directed Sober above. Green Jelly, originally Green Jello called themselves "The World's Worst Band" because lime-flavored Jell-O was allegedly the worst Jell-O flavor. Their rock comedy was so much fun to listen too. Sadly my original copy of Cereal Killer was stolen by some douche of a roommate, but Cian picked up a newer copy.
Don't forget to check in on January 31st to see my top 10 all time favorite Music Videos.
