Disgusted! Hometown Florist Refuses To Do Flowers For Gay Wedding!

I couldn't be more ashamed of the negative publicity my hometown of Richland, WA has received at the moment. Barronelle Stuzman, owner of Arlene's Flowers in Richland, Wa has refused to supply flowers to a gay couple for their wedding.

“He said he decided to get married, and before he got through I grabbed his hand and said, 'I am sorry. I can't do your wedding because of my relationship with Jesus Christ,'” said Stuzman.
“We hugged each other and he left, and I assumed that was the end of the story.”

Robert Ingersoll, who went to the local news and his partner, Curt were shocked at the refusal after being solid patrons for almost a decade.

“It came as a shock to me because I've had a nine year relationship with Barronelle and have never thought there was a reason that she wouldn't …,” Ingersoll said.
Stuzman tried to save face by saying, “We hire gay people. I have friends that are gay, that wasn't the issue. The issue is that I just didn't want to participate in the marriage.”
There are rants all over Facebook at the moment and I like so many other Locals have vowed to never give our business to this narrow-minded woman.
How dare she judge another loving couple because of their sexual preference... The ignorance and stupidity of some people just amazes me. I hope that this woman's business suffers for her inhumane decision.

  1. There is so much hate in this world, it's awful. You can still provide flowers to their wedding and not agree with it.

I feel bad for the couple and I hope they get the most beautiful flowers for their wedding.

  2. She's misinformed, the bible has very little to say about homosexuality, especially considering that homosexuality as a concept didn't even exist in those times.

In fact, the bible is much more critical of those who divorce than it is of gay people.

But, this doesn't seem particularly hateful, she doesn't seem malicious, just misinformed. She even seems regretful.

Sometimes it's best to save the outrage for the people who really deserve it.

  3. @Mantan Calaveras: This outrage is close to heart, so it is deserved because I said and feel that it is. Sometimes it's best not to tell people what to feel about a situation.
